Myron Hartley

" Colorful... would be the one word best used to describe my life thus far," exclaims artist Myron Hartley, " and not just in the artistic sense." Growing up in the rural setting of Preston, Idaho he proudly claims that to be his home. This, in spite of living in a more urban section of Northern Utah for the past 18 years, illustrates his deep connection to the outdoors and farming roots that formed his early years.

"As far back as I can remember art has been part of my life; I still remember the first time my mother opened up a black satchel containing a number of Winson newton oil paints and the deep rich colors that came from those white tubes.....Magical!!"

Equally at ease with either a brush or camera in his hand it's not uncommon to find Myron waiting patiently for the first light of morning to color the landscape as he garners more photos for his ever expanding collection of reference material. Anything is fair game, from old trees to old tractors. Even his own children have been pursuaded to dress up in winter clothing during the heat of summer to capture the right look for a painting process.

"I am so thankful to be a full time artist in this day and age. Art for me, is a refuge from the hustle and bustle of everyday life in our modern busy world...an escape and opportunity to replicate in some small way the intense beauty found around us in nature."
