Robert Parkison

Watercolorist Robert Parkison (b. 1951) is a fifth-generation San Franciscan who entered the art world with considerable attention as the 1980's dawned. Delighting in the beauty of architecture, Parkison captures shape and graphic simplicity without human intrusion. His early work depicting the American Southwest brought him acclaim far beyond his California roots, resulting in his first Dutch exhibit in 1987. Parkison uses the white, untouched paper in his pieces to depict light. This light is an active element in all of his works. These 21st century views reflect his Californian roots as well as his experiences in his adoptive home, Amsterdam. The connecting thread which runs through all of Parkison's work is "a moment in time."
