David Graff

All of David's works rely upon the distinctive use of, and effects produced by gilding. He follows the centuries old practice of applying hammered metal leaf to any number of surfaces to achieve a richly opulent finish. Its history can be traced from the gold statuary of ancient Egypt to the glittering domes of Imperial Russia. Gold, silver, copper, bronze and aluminum leaf are combined with chemical patinas, paint, dyes and stains to achieve a wide range of colours and textures. David has enjoyed considerable success with his highly sought after work on high-end residential and commercial projects in Los Angeles, Vancouver, Hong Kong, and China. His work on the lobby of the Wilshire Grand in L.A. won an Interior Design Institute Award in 2001, his contribution to a residential project in 1999 won the Gold Georgie Award for Best Overall Interior, and his extensive work in a Shaughnessey, B.C. residence will be showcased in an upcoming issue of Architectural Digest.
